EXQUISICION is a Swiss Ensemble at the interface between jazz, folklore and contemporary music.
The quartet has been working together for many years. In 2020 they have brought together what they have collected on a CD. „Conquistador“, the title of the album, combines jazz with music from the Alpine world, the Orient and Africa.
The combination of wind instruments with percussion leads us to the origin of the music: voice and rhythm. As archaic and sheltered as it sounds, its possibilities are manifold in terms of freedom of play and interaction.
Based on a natural aesthetic, EXQUISICION explores the relationship between traditional and secular music, between familiarity and openness. In this way, insights from ancient musical cultures flow in as a ground and source of inspiration for musically detached spaces.
