FELIX HUBER COMPROject
FELIX HUBER COMPROject
COMPROJECT (Composition/Impro/Project) is the examination of fragments or already completed but not yet published manuscripts from my previous compositional work; and at the same time their integration into my current work.
Furthermore, it is the attempt to realize sound recordings during the Corona lockdown, separated in time and place in our own studios in Aarau, Basel and Bern respectively, without losing too much spontaneity and creativity.
The fact that this, as I feel, has succeeded amazingly well with the present album, I owe to my fellow musicians Christoph and Clemens, who have enriched this music with their power of inspiration and intuitive grasp of the character of the individual pieces.
Felix Huber
Christoph Huber (tenorsax, bassclarinet)
From a musical household in a small Swiss village to living and working in New York City, Christoph Huber has been involved in a wide range of musical settings.
This cocktail of influences inspires him to find unique connections between musical elements, while the craftsmanship and flexibility he’s acquired on the saxophone serves as the foundation for exploration.
Recent years have seen him become more involved beyond Jazz circles, helping with album productions and live sets of various genres as well as writing music for dance.
He’s built his musical home in an old industrial building near Badischer Bahnhof Basel, Switzerland, where he explores the marriage of acoustical sounds with electronics.

I was Born in Bern, Switzerland in 1991 and started playing the drums at the age of 6.
After highschool I studied with Gerry Hemingway, Norbert Pfammatter and Pierre Favre and then quickly managed to find my way into the small but thriving swiss music scene. Good technique is mandatory, and I want to keep reaching. Still, I often find myself playing quite sparse, delicate acoustic settings, trying to really hear everything and get everything heard.
I draw my inspiration from my countless peers and from music from all over the world, be it the drummers of Burundi, indonesian gamelan, gnawa music from Morroco or the intriguing female choirs of Bulgaria as well as the manifold fusions encounters create.
I lead the critically acclaimed quintet Murmullo, and the international ensemble Ydivide. My work with the quartet of harpist Julie Campiche probably drew the most attention in recent years.,Swiss Bitwig wizard Guy Mandon has opened my ears for synthetic sounds and more electronic-oriented music. I joined him for his live set. I am a longtime member and arranger for neo-folk outlaw Moes Anthill and recently started working intensively for and with Kate Birch.

Description
FATASHUI is a combination of the two terms "Feng Shui" and "Fata Morgana".
"Feng Shui" refers to sensible and systematic ordering of things while in "Fata Morgana" things are not in the place where they seem to be due to reflection. I find this phenomenon characteristic of music, whose essence is not in the physically audible sounds, but in the relationships between them, the intervallic conversation.
Thus, for me, working out the compositions is more related to Feng Shui, and improvising as a mirror of the soul in real time is more related to Fata Morgana; like walking through a desert, so to speak, guided by imagination and the urge for freedom.
